Ravi Shastri On Rahul Dravid Coaching: For the last 16 months, Rahul Dravid is working as the head coach of the Indian team. Dravid’s coaching has not been anything special for Team India so far. During his tenure, the team has lost big tournaments like Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Apart from this, the team was also defeated in Test and ODI against South Africa. Now former Indian coach Ravi Shastri spoke on the coaching of Rahul Dravid. While talking, he said that during my tenure we won two Asia Cups, no one remembers.
‘Give them time’
Responding to the question of Rahul Dravid’s coaching on ‘Sports Tak’, Ravi Shastri said, “Time to lagta hai. I also took time, but Rahul Dravid has an advantage that he was also in NCA, where he was with A team and now he is here. He has a lot of experience with the players and the system, but give him time.”
‘Public memory is very short’
Rahul Dravid’s contract is till this World Cup only. However, his contract is expected to go ahead. On this Shastri said, “Look, public memory is very short in our country. If you want to win then you have to win. We won two Asia Cups during our tenure, but no one remembers. Has anyone talked about the Asia Cup? We have won twice, but no one talks about it. But when we lose the Asia Cup, then the Asia Cup. That is why I am saying that efforts should be made.
Taking his point further Ravi Shastri said, “Everyone wants to win but it is important to give your best and see what happens. Sometimes you don’t give your best and still you win, but you need to be very lucky to win the World Cup. Very few teams have won the World Cup even after not playing well.
